Mika John Vukona (born 13 May 1982) is a New Zealand professional basketball player who currently plays for the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian National Basketball League (ANBL). He is also a regular New Zealand Tall Black and holds a Fijian passport.〔(Mika Vukona says it is time for the veterans to step forward ) 〕
==Early life==
Vukona was born in Suva, Fiji to Fijian father, Clem, and New Zealand mother, Marianne. He was raised in Fiji for the first five years of his life, before moving to the coastal city of Tauranga, a couple of hours south of Auckland. As a junior, Vukona played rugby until age 15 when his mother forced him to stop, leading him to follow his brother's footsteps and started playing basketball.〔(Take 40: Mika Vukona )〕 One code's loss was another's gain as Vukona went on to become a member of the national under 16, 18 and 20 sides.〔(Meet Mika Vukona - Lantern Insurance Ambassador )〕
